Our species has filled this planet, and the primary reason we live in large groups is that our children are born helpless, and, like all species, we have to protect our children. Seeing a child injured or in trouble leads to an instinctive reaction to help them. This is the reason most of us find the conflict in Palestine so disturbing; everyday we hear of more deaths of children.

On Sunday 25 May 2025 there was a report of a doctor whose residence was hit with a missile which resulted in the deaths of nine of her ten children and severe injuries to her husband and surviving child. I was shocked that anybody would target a home with ten children. I asked myself what sort of human could do this, and how could that mother bear such grief? Also, I asked myself what I could do to stop this appalling cruelty. I conceived the idea of asking people to stand outside their gates dressed in black and/or carrying a red flag at a specific time to let our leaders know that we as humans call for Israel to be isolated from the rest of the human community until they stop murdering children. I am calling on all those people who agree with me to stand together and stand up for the children.
